When I first heard of the term ‘Double Bottom Line’, it was in reference to the Social Entrepreneurial aspect of my chosen home business.
“Social entrepreneurship is the art of simultaneously pursuing both a
Financial and Social Return on investment(it’s the double bottom line).”
~ Institute for Social Entrepreneurs
Since then it’s been a concept that has kinda taken over my mind lol!!! Like aliens!!!
Just kidding, but you know what I mean when you’ve been inspired by something and it causes you to expand and see your world in a different way….
So, aside from the ‘Double Bottom Line’ of a social enterprise… I’ve realised there’s also a ‘Double Bottom Line’ in choosing a home business in the burgeoning Wellness Industry.
Think about it for even a second!
In the 21st Century, there’s NO way of avoiding the urgency of taking action in your life from a wellness perspective. It’s now proven essential to be taking self-responsibility to learn more about food, about more natural ways to address health imbalances, to use western medicine as a last resort and to seek Integrative Medicine wherever possible.
As a matter of fact, you might be aware that the Wellness Industry is one of the Mega Trends talked about by economist
Paul Zane Pilzer in his advice about choosing a market to play in.
SO…
How AMAZING is it to have a business where by default you’re doing all that!!
AND, at the same time bringing extra or full time income into the household… the ‘Double Bottom Line’.
It’s a match made in heaven for me… we earn income and simultaneously support the foundation of wellness of our children and whole family.
To be frank, I actually see my business as having a ‘Triple Bottom Line’ – Household Income, Family Wellness and Ending Global Childhood Deaths from Malnutrition.
Just about EVERY home business would have a ‘Double Bottom Line’ if you LOVE your product or service… What’s yours?
