My Tip

One thing that I personally do to help me is obtain a set of stationary and clear a certain area to work for my goal/project. YES I know that may sound a bit odd?

Why?

Well when you pick up the papers with the goals and actions it is specific to your focus. You don’t have three different ideas and lists to distract you while flicking through.

Buy a new blank book that will allow you to; identify, write your goals, specify your actions and list your activity.

 

Breaking your activity into consistent actions

Remembering the 80/20 rule is vital; 20% of your real activity is going to drive 80% of your business. Administration, paperwork and ‘procrastination’ is going to make up 80% of your time while devoting to your business, which means the key parts that drive sales or business is 20%.

This rule was derived from an Italian economist that 80% of the income in Italy was received by 20% of the population.

How does this apply to your business life? It simply means that 20% of your certain activities account for the majority 80% of your ‘output’ business or income.

How does this apply to your business?

You have actions that you have derived from your broken down goal. These actions are what you have self-discovered or learnt that will impact and drive your business and life to the end achievement. Having said that you don’t want to be spending 95% of the time “preparing” for the key sale actions.

Ask yourself, how many hours a week are you dedicating to your goal? 20 hours? 25 hours? 40 hours? GREAT! Lets use those hours in the most productive way possible.

Break down your hours throughout the week from the days you can add value to your business. Keep in mind the important part of breaking down these hours is to ensure the time you split your activity its appropriate to the actions you set.

 

Priority is the key to prosperity

 

From the actions derived write them out on a new page and prioritise them. Rank the list of actions by the highest impact to your business growth! We want to know what actions will derive the business, though we are NOT at all disregarding administration or other activity but we need to understand what are the ‘big hitters’.

Now you have your priority of actions and now you can separate these actions to the most appropriate time to achieve your results from those specific actions.

 

For example; if you have separated your hours of 5hours a day Monday to Friday, but Monday is not appropriate for your potential clients then priorities then we will choose a lower prioritised item that may not be ‘customer contact’ but may be team building, skill coaching or development to this time. It enables you to ensure you are focusing 110% on each item in your list.

Prioritising your actions does not regraded the importance of other activity. Without skill building, mentoring or team activity you may not be able to develop or even perform the higher prioritised actions. The importance of the above is to select and categorise the right activity to the right time.

 

Steve’s Side Tip For an Effective and Powerful Week!

Within most business cultures you will find the meetings throughout are split into

  • Monday: Weekly Focus Review and Actions & Motivation – GOALS for the week
  • Tuesday: Skill Building Techniques PLUS Take Action
  • Wednesday: Review the midweek, where do I set? What is working, what is not and anything I should change?  Keep Taking Action!
  • Thursday: Keep up the motivation, keep up the momentum, set the goals for the day of where you sit against your Monday goals, and you know it… Keep Taking Action
  • Friday: END IT WITH A BANG!!!, which of course includes Taking Action!

These actions are broken down briefly for the Monday to Friday. It’s simply an example to share how you could break your week down, adapt for your schedule!

Now that you have your BRILLIANT LARGE goals, your broken down medium and short goals and actions that will help them! You now have the recipe to your success to your actions!
